Does Rob Zombie Kill Off Captain Spaulding in 3 From Hell?

Does Rob Zombie Kill Off Captain Spaulding in 3 From Hell?

To date Rob Zombie has released a 50 second teaser, a minute and 50 second trailer, and now several stills from his highly anticipated movie 3 From Hell. 3 From Hell is a long overdue sequel to The Devil’s Rejects. The film releases on September 16, 17, and 18, 2019 as a Fathom’s Special Event.

Until than fans are left speculating as to what will take place in the movie. The IMDb synopsis says “Sequel to The Devil’s Rejects.” All we know for sure is that the events take place directly after the ending of The Devil’s Rejects. But in reviewing all the material that has been released about 3 From Hell, I am left with a very serious question or two.

Does Rob Zombie Kill Off Captain Spaulding in 3 From Hell?

Some of you are probably asking why would I pose such a question. My answer is simple. Captain Spaulding aka Sid Haig is missing the from almost all the actual footage of the movie and promotional material. He is missing from the photos released today. His appearance in the teaser and actual trailer seems to be the same scene. He is only in the trailer for a few seconds.

Out of the 42 photos that the 3 From Hell movie has uploaded on IMDb; Captain Spaulding is only in 3. One is a promo mug shot movie poster, the second is a scene shot from the camera that looks like Captain Spaulding is being escorted to jail, and the third is a close up shot from an A camera of Sid Haig talking. The close up shot looks like an uncolored still from the same scene that was in the teaser and trailer.

This leads me to think that the 3 From Hell isn’t going to be Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig), Otis Firefly (Bill Moseley), and Baby Firefly (Sheri Moon Zombie). So who is the 3 From Hell? My money is on Otis Firefly, Baby Firefly, and Winslow Foxworth Coltrane (Richard Brake). Those 3 are in all the pictures and the majority of the promo items.

3 From Hell

The scene in the trailer appears to be Captain Spaulding in a police interrogation room. So does he meet the same fate as Mother Firefly?

This leads to another question.

Is a 3 From Hell movie that kills off Captain Spaulding worth watching?

In my opinion maybe. I am not going to kid you. I am going to be in a theater September 16 and watch the first screening possible. But that doesn’t mean I am going to be happy.

For the record, I want 3 From Hell to be the best Rob Zombie movie to date. But I don’t think that will happen if he kills off Captain Spaulding.

Captain Spaulding has earned his way into the horror All-Star team along side Jason, Freddy, Michael Myers, Hannibal Lector, Leatherface, and Chucky. Killing him off is in violation of the long standing rule that you can’t kill the boogeyman. Did I mention if Captain Spaulding dies I will be disappointed?

Rob Zombie’s most probable course of action is that he doesn’t kill off Captain Spaulding but instead leaves him in prison for most of all the movie and limits his screen time.

My prediction is that Captain Spaulding isn’t even in the movie with his clown makeup on. I believe if he doesn’t kill Captain Spaulding off. Then he is going to leave him in prison. Maybe the 3 From Hell are going to try and break him out. But Captain Spaulding probably doesn’t have 10 minutes of actual screen time in the film. I bet Sheri Moon Zombie got more screen time in Halloween II than Sid Haig gets in 3 From Hell.

This could be for a number of reasons. It could be due to a disagreement with the actor’s agent or a personal health situation. Or it could be that Rob Zombie wrote him out or limited his involvement with this film.

This option is very risky. Let’s just call it like we see it. Rob Zombie’s movie career is on the line here.

Look at his track record:

House of 1000 Corpses (2003): Great movie but wasn’t as great as it should be. It’s Rob Zombie we expected more.
The Devil’s Rejects (2005): Great follow-up to House of 1000 Corpses. Horror fans went crazy over Captain Spaulding. Established Rob Zombie as a kick ass horror filmmaker.
Halloween (2007): Great movie. Rob Zombie didn’t get the proper credit for his new take on the film. I loved this movie better than the latest Halloween sequel.
Halloween II (2009): Wasn’t really feeling it. Sheri Moon Zombie got way too much screen time in the movie when she shouldn’t have even been in the movie. Putting constant flashbacks of a dead character so that he could work his wife into the film is how I felt about this one. He missed the mark.
The Lords of Salem (2012): Not my favorite at all. Not the type of film that I think horror fans wanted from Rob.
31 (2016): Highly anticipated. Had lots of potential but Rob Zombie almost completely fucked it up. What really saved this movie from being a total lose is the amazing performance from the super talented Richard Brake as Doom Head.

So Rob Zombie’s track record isn’t that great when it comes to directing and writing horror films. It’s almost like he is the Little Engine that Could in the world of horror movie directors. Some of you will think that this unfair criticism of Zombie. But I am just being honest. He is a crazy kick ass rock star with a wild and dark imagination. I expect more from him. Sorry. I am definitely a fan and I want him to succeed.

However, I don’t think a 3 From Hell movie with a Captain Spaulding that is sitting in prison or dead is going to help his career. If he kills Captain Spaulding than I fear his movie fans may never forgive him which could spell the end of his career.

Take a look at the photos that he released today. My question is where is my Captain Spaulding in clown makeup in 3 From Hell photo?
