So what happens when horror fans get fed up with the mediocre horror movies from studio giants? They grab a camera and make their own films. And that is what Luke Pedder from Radical Talent did. Luke made a 30 minute short film entitled Michael vs Jason: Evil Emerges. The not for profit fan film features an epic battle between Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees.
Radical Talent describes the film as “A short fan film we did with no budget. Literally no budget. Nothing was raised, no kick-starters. nothing. We used everything we had at the time and worked with what we could. Don’t expect this to be a mind blowing $25 million budget movie. It was just me, my family and few mates that put this together. The two most iconic killers face off and battle to the death!”
The movie is solid. It has garnered over 4.2 million views since it was uploaded on April 5th, 2019.
Luke states “this film is for the fans that WANT to see these killers battle it out. If you’re against the idea of a movie like this ever being made, this isn’t for you. I made this because fans wanted to see it. For a movie like this to work sometimes you have to change up the characters a bit… otherwise it would be one sided. Lets work together as a horror community and write down some ideas for a sequel or another horror movie fight that you’d like to see!”
I agree with Luke. The studios who own the rights to these iconic horror films should hold a contest. They could charge like $100 to enter. Let horror fans submit their spec scripts for movies like this. The winner of the contest would have their script purchased and made. What a perfect way for the studios to make a large profit off the horror community while involving the horror community!
